The Tigers do many things. For example, the Tigers burned all the books that were rare volumes on the Tamil people and their history. The books were written on palm leaves over three hundred years ago, and they had nearly 100,000 volumes and were considered one of the best collections in Southeast Asia. No one was hurt in the fire, but the destruction of the books was devastating to the Tamil people.  

The Tamil Tigers have also been accused by the cops for detonating a claymore explosive and killing three police officers driving a water tanker near the northern town of Vavuniya. This has been an ongoing problem since the mid-seventies, with the exceptiong of the last four years because of the ceased fire.

Our opinion is that we think there needs to be a solution to this problem. It is not right that children and innocent people are getting their lives taken for unnecessary reasons. The two sides need to come to an agreement so no more lives will be taken. The government needs to take control and start enforcing laws that need to be followed.

Boys and girls are both reported to be child soldiers. One third of the child soldiers are reported to be girls. The girls may be raped or given to military commanders as wives.

Children are also more likely to become child soldiers if they are poor, separated from their families, displaced from their homes, living in a combat zone or have limited access to education. Others who are very vulnerable to recruitments are orphans and refugees. Many children join armed groups because of economic or social pressure, or because the children believe that the group will provide them with food and security.

Child soldiers usually serve as porters or cooks, guards, messengers or spies. Male and female child soldiers are also often used as sex slaves, and therefore, are at a high risk of unwanted pregnancies and contracting sexually transmitted diseases. However, many children are forced to the front lines or sent into minefields ahead of older troops. Some children have even been used for suicide missions. Some of these child soldiers even end up injuring or killing members of their own families or other child soldiers.

Child soldiers are often killed or wounded, with survivors often suffering multiple traumas and psychological scarring. Child soldiers are a global phenomenon, and this problem is most critical in Africa and Asia, but armed groups in the Americas, Eurasia, and the Middle East also use children.

Timothy Treadwell wasn’t the only person who shared a love of animals. He has a lot in common with Steve Irwin. Even though they were interested in completely different animals, they definitely shared a lot of similarities. They are two people who went out of their way to live with the animals that they love and cherish. They are so passionate about what they do, and they aren’t ashamed to show their love for these animals. They also draw a lot of attention to themselves with their behavior. I believe that the public is very interested in them because what they do is so different from anything that most human beings do. No matter what opinions people may have about Timothy Treadwell and Steve Irwin, I will always believe that there is nothing mentally wrong with them. Everyone has something that they are passionate about, and they just happen to be passionate about the animals they love.

Tina Fey not only looks like Sarah Palin, she also makes fun of the way she presents herself. Tina Fey is constantly making jokes about the way Palin talks, winks, and her poses. Tina Fey also talks a lot about Sarah Palin’s lack of experience. Because Fey’s segments on Saturday Night Live, she may be the cause of why McCain and Palin are losing votes. On a survey of three hundred and fourteen democrats, republicans, and independents, it shows how the ratings have dropped for McCain and Palin. Tina Fey is definitely causing some damage.

Even though this may be a negative effect on the McCain and Palin Campaign, it is turning out to be great success for Tina Fey. Tina Fey has a great chance of winning an emmy this year just for her segments on impersonating Sarah Palin. So even though this is negative publicity for Sarah Palin, Tina Fey is succeeding for herself and for Saturday Night Live. Now all we can do is wait and see how this may or may not affect the 2008 presidential election.

A deadly train collision occurred outside of Los Angeles because the train operator was text messaging. Due to this deadly accident, texting is now banned for anyone at the controls of a moving train. It is also dangerous to text while driving. Many teenagers are causing accidents because of this form of communication. This causes them not to pay attention and gives them the opportunity to harm themselves and possibly others.

Texting in school has also become a very severe problem. There are many ways that students suffer from using cell phones in school. One example is that they could use this form of technology to cheat on a test or share answers with other students. Another problem is that students get distracted from texting during class, and this causes them not to pay attention and could result in bad grades.

Another incident that recently happened, occurred in Davenport, Florida on a busy Polk County highway. Four teenagers were trying to cross the busy highway, and three of the teenagers saw an approaching car and decided not to cross. While three of them stopped, the other one wasn’t paying attention because he was texting, and he continued to cross. Because of this, he got hit by the approaching car, and the accident resulted in death for the fourteen year old boy.

Even though there’s no possible way we can stop people from texting dangerously, there are things we can do to be more careful. All it takes is making sure you text at appropriate times and always be aware of your surroundings.

The only major stumble that Britney Spears faced during the VMAs was during her opening. She stumbled on saying “25^th anniversary,” and it came out as “25^th aniversity.” So this alone tells us that she has made major improvements in just a year.

In my honest opinion, I don’t feel like Britney Spears deserved winning those awards. I think the only reason she won the awards is because people felt bad for her for the past year and the past Video Music Awards. I am, however, impressed with the progress that Spears made over the past year. She has definitely matured and returned back to her normal self, but I still feel that she was not deserving of the awards. I feel like the other nominees were much more deserving because I feel they are more talented than Britney Spears.

 In the movie A Mighty Heart, terrorism was definitely shown. Mariane Pearl dealt with her husband being kidnapped while following a lead story he was working on about the shoe bomber, Richard Reid. Mariane is also a journalist like her husband, and she starts with the Pakistani police, FBI, and officials to try and bring her husband home safely.This shows terrorism because kidnapping a part of terrorism. They are determined to do whatever they can to kidnap, kill, or cause suffering to people.

Maury Povich got his journalism talent from his parents. His father, Shirley Povich, wrote for the Washington Post as the sports columnist. His father worked at the Washington Post for a total of seventy-five years. Shirley Povich definitely influenced his son, Maury. Maury began his broadcast journalism career in 1966 as a news reporter and sportscaster at Metromedia’s WTTG-TV in Washington D.C. The year after, he became the host of a new midday talk show called Panorama. He instantly fell in love with the format that combined news, politics, and celebrities, which pretty much is everything that someone can cover. While working for Panorama and working in the nation’s capital, he won many awards.

Besides only broadcasting in Washington D.C., Maury also began anchoring in many big cities throughout the U.S. These cities included Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, and Philadelphia. After being in television for twenty years, Maury headed off to New York to go to the Big Apple, New York City. In 1986, a Current Affair was created. A Current Affair started off as a local show, but its popularity grew and it became very well known.

In 1991, he returned to doing talk shows. He now started as being the host of his very own talk show, The Maury Povich Show, for Paramount. In 1998, he partnered with Studios USA to create Maury. Maury is a one hour long talk show with an upgraded look and attitude. Maury specialized in helping teens and parents and their controversial issues and problems.

Not only did Maury let viewers know about hard news, he also let viewers know about soft news. On his Maury show, there were many guest celebrities. Some of these celebrities include Cher, Bill Cosby, Cindy Crawford, Kirk Douglas, Patti Davis, Lily Tomlin, Kathleen Sullivan, and Ross Perot. More entertaining things that Maury does is that sometimes on his show he does special episodes. One includes where the audience guesses who is male and who is female because he has transvestites on the show.

Even though Maury Povich is an amazing journalist, something I think he could change in order to be more serious is to act more serious at times. Sometimes on his talk show, he helps mom’s find out who their baby’s daddy is. This causes the couple’s to be yelling, swearing, the audience also joins in yelling and swearing, and the audience also laughs because they find their problems very humorous. However, if Maury would stop these kinds of episodes, I definitely think that he would lose a lot of his viewers because Maury is known and famous for having these episodes for finding the baby’s daddy.

Miley’s fame came from her hit show Hannah Montana on Disney Channel in October of 2006. Following the show came a soundtrack of the hit songs that were on the show. In December of 2007 she was ranked #17 in the list of Forbes Top twenty earners with an annual earning of $3.5 million. Her show was such a hit that she is recently working on Hannah Montana: The Movie that will come out late 2008 or early 2009.

Miley Cyrus is a young teen of only 15, but she has the fastest selling concerts around. Her concerts are one of the hardest concerts to get tickets to, so hard that it’s almost impossible. Her shows are completely sold out in under the first seven minutes of selling. Some people camp out 2 days in line waiting for tickets and by the time the first person in line gets to the open booth, the concert is already sold out over the internet.

Since Hannah Montana concert tickets are almost impossible to purchase, one mother won Hannah Montana tickets in an essay contest. However, she took it too far. A mother from Texas helped her 6 year old daughter write a false essay on how her dad died in Iraq, just so they would have the chance to win Hannah Montana tickets. Everybody found this wrong, except the mother. She was saying how she did nothing wrong because it was just an essay and not actually a true story. She claims her daughter always does essays in school and that she never actually said it was a true story. Because of this, the sponsors who gave out the tickets gave them out to a different contestant. This just shows the desperate things that people will do to get their children tickets to see Hannah Montana.

            Because many people can’t get the opportunity to see a Hannah Montana show, they came up with a solution. They are making her concert into a full length movie. Not only will her concert be a movie, but it will also be 3-D. This allows you to watch the concert on the big screen and in a whole different environment. It will be in theaters February 1-7 2008. It will also appear in different countries in different languages because Hannah Montana is such a big star.
