On September 9, 2007, MTV held its annual Music Video Awards in Las Vegas. They hold this award show at the end of summer each year. They have a reputation for putting on a good show and always being full of good entertainment for three hours. This year MTV decided to something different. Instead of three hours, they shortened the award ceremony to two hours. Also, they had many parties going on in the Palm Springs Hotel while the awards were going on, and they would keep going from party to party, showing celebrities and performances. Another thing is that the music video awards always has an outstanding opening act. This year was a little different.
To open the show this year, MTV had Britney Spears perform her new song “Gimme More” for a comeback for her career. However, this backfired on Britney because her lip synching was off and her dancing was not quite enjoyable. Britney was definitely not prepared. Also, when she got off stage, she said herself that she looked like a “fat pig.” Britney’s “people” wanted her to wear a corset top that gave her body a nice look, but Britney insisted on wearing the black, sparkly bikini. She also fired her hair dresser moments before the show because they had differences, so Britney was having problems even before she had to perform.
I think Britney shouldn’t be in such a hurry to make a comeback. I really think she needs to take this seriously and take her time. She should make sure she is physically and mentally prepared. She needs to realize that she has to work twice as hard because there are young, fresh, new artists coming out all the time, so she has some big competition. She needs to know that just because she was big before doesn’t mean she will be big instantly again. I think if Britney really wants this and works hard, she will make it in the music business again. She just needs to get her life back together and start acting maturely before she does anymore recording.
